On Sunday morning, we woke up excited that we were on the last leg of our journey home. I remember telling Dawson to get excited because in only 8 hours he would be home sweet home, man did I jinx us! Less then an hour into our trip Dave's parents' truck made a very strange noise. We actually thought a bird had flown in to the fan, so we pulled over. Dave and dad popped the hood, but couldn't really see anything wrong, so we decided to try moving again. This lasted for only a few seconds and we had to pull over again. More noise, a little smoke, fuel leaking onto the pavement, the smell of fumes, basically the truck was going know where. So we found ourselves stranded on the side of the highway, in the middle of the mountains, with no cell phone reception. Thankfully a man and his wife came to our rescue and drove us to Jasper, which was an hour away. So instead of heading home we had the truck towed to Jasper and waited for a ride! Family friend Vern Tees came to our rescue, with in an hour of getting the call he had rounded up a trailer and crew cab truck and was on his way, what a great friend! We arrived home around 3am Monday morning!
