Conversations With A Three Year Old...

This conversation occurred as I was bent over buckling one of kids into their seats in the van, which is becoming a bit of a challenge with my growing tummy.

Sophia: "Wow Karalee you have a big bum!" (accompanied by a lot of laughter)
Karalee: "Really Sophia, why thank you. I know you're just joking around honey, but you should be careful about joking about a person's body, because it might make some people really sad."
Dawson: "You don't have to be sad mommy, you're a grown up and it's okay to be humongous."

Just the words a pregnant woman wants to hear!

Dawson: "Mommy, let's play dress up"
Karalee: "Okay honey."

Dawson begins rummaging through the dress up box, pulls out a Santa hat and places it on my head.

Dawson: "Okay Santa Claus let me cover your eyes, you have leprosy and need to be baptised before I throw you in the lions den."

Now that's quite the imagination!!!

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

They say good things come to those who wait and wait we have. When Dave and I first got married, he was working as an instrument tech at a shop located in our city. The hours were crazy and the position stressful. One day we noticed an ad in the paper for a job in a town 60 minutes from here. He'd actually worked for this company before and thought he would have a good chance of getting the job. He applied and was offered the job. At the time we thought he would work at this job for a year and continue to look for something closer to home. What we thought would be "temporary" turned into six years! Six years of long, unpredictable hours, two hours of driving a day, and many job offers close to home that always fell through. It was frustrating at times, but I came to a realization about three years in that this must be where God wants Dave to be, because nothing else had worked out. I was continually reminded of these verses:

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

While we were on vacation Dave received a call from a company called Emerson offering him a position at a plant just outside of the city. Not only is the job only 15 minutes from home, but he works 4-1o hours days (Mon-Thurs). That's right every weekend is a long weekend. So far he is one week into his job and things are going well. Honestly it feels to good to be true. What a great God we have. He has given us more then we could have asked or imagined!

Anyway you say it I'm still in shock and disbelief at how fast this pregnancy is going. Although Dawson would beg to differ, he thinks it's taking way to long. 30 weeks in and I'm feeling pretty good. I am starting to experience some increased fatigue, due to lower back pain and the fact that I have to get up a least 2 times a night to pee! Overall, I can't complain.

I am starting to feel some apprehension now that I have reached the 30 week mark. Mainly because if this baby follows in his brothers footsteps (Dawson arriving 2 weeks early, Cooper 4 weeks) he will arrive around 34 weeks. Which although baby would be fine and the hospital in our city takes preemies from 32 weeks on, the whole juggling home life and a baby in the hospital is something we've never faced before. Chances are he will go over his due date just to be different! So stay posted! We could be looking at just over 3 weeks until this little guy makes his arrival or 11!
