Just For Laughs!

A Day of Visitors

Today we had lots of visitors! I think Dawson was a little confused at first because every time he woke up from a nap someone new would be in the house. First Grandma Peters stopped over, followed by Grandpa Andrus and one of Dawson's Great Uncle Alan's(he happens to have 3!), and last but certainly not least; Uncle Andrew, Auntie Rachael, Ryan and Ella! We only managed to get pictures of our last group of visitors. Needless to say it was a really fun day!

The Twins!
Okay of course their not, but don't you think they could pull it off?

Baby Jacqueline

Yesterday, we went to Calgary to meet Jacqueline Hill! Jacqueline's mom Jenny and I have been friends since we were about 12 years old. Jenny, remember those years in junior high when we would dream about what it would be like to be married with children, isn't it hard to believe we are at that stage now? It's going to be so much fun having kids so close in age!

Jenny, Adam, Jacqueline and Brutis Hill

Jacqueline is such an angel! Even though in all of the pictures I have of her she is sleeping, she was actually awake for a good part of our visit.
Dawson's new buddy!
Yesterday was Dawson's first time meeting a dog that was right down at his level! He thought Brutis was great. He would just giggle when Brutis would lick his face, it was adorable! Now I really want to get him a puppy of his own, but I'm not sure we could handle puppy training and a 5 month old! Auntie Rachel and Uncle Trevor, I think you should bring Kimchi home for a visit this summer. I have a feeling Dawson and Kimchi would get along great.

Happy Birthday Auntie Rachel

Today is Auntie Rachel's Birthday! Actually, for her it was yesterday, because of the time difference in South Korea. Dawson wanted to send his love to one of his favorite aunties!

Cousins

About 6 weeks ago Dawson and his cousins, Ryan and Ella, went to Sears to have their picture taken together. It was quite a task getting 3 kids to smile at the same time for the camera!

Yesturday we went for our first family photo shoot!

5 Months Old!

It's hard to believe, but Dawson is already 5 months old! He is growing up so quickly. Mommy can't believe that with in one month he will be starting solid food. This picture is a few days late, partly due to fact that Dawson decided for several days that he didn't want to get his picture taken with Eeyore, and mom just hasn't had time.

Here are some of the things that Dawson has accomplished in the last month:

Weight: 15lbs (approx.)
Height: 26 1/2"
New things he can do: He is now rolling over both ways and uses this to move across the room. He can now turn himself around in his exersaucer and loves interacting with all it's toys.
New discovery: His toes
Baby Talk: He has done away with the adorable coos and giggles, replacing them with screams and grunts!
New Game: The tough man. He came up with this game all on his own, his favorite competitor is daddy. Object of the game is to see who can let out the loudest "Man Grunt" (that is really the only way I can describe this bizarre noise he makes). Basically you make a noise and Dawson tries to top it. Yesterday Dawson and Daddy played a round and Dawson won. He was grunting so hard he was red in the face!!!

Dawson's First Road Trip

Over Easter we went on a road trip to BC to visit some of Dave's family. We were a little apprehensive, as we had no idea how Dawson would handle hours in his car seat, but he did quite well. It probably helped that Auntie Becki came along to keep him entertained. Dawson's favorite part of the ride was Banff National Park, he giggled and cooed the entire time, we think he must have liked the feeling of the curvy roads and the tunnels! The only part of the trip he didn't enjoy was driving the Coquihalla highway, it was too high up in the mountains and his ears kept popping.
Strapped in and ready to go!
Our first stop was in Summerland, BC to visit the Ferguson's. The weather was awesome while we where there. It was so nice to see tulips and trees in blossom, especially since the day before we had come from 10" of snow! Highlights for Dawson were Auntie and Uncle's ceiling fan(he could have stared at that for hours) and jumping on their trampoline.

Next we headed to Abbotsford to visit Grandpa and Grandma Magnus and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. This was their first time meeting Dawson and he put on all the charms! Great Auntie Wanda even let him lay on the dinning room table, amidst all of her fine china, and stare up at their massive chandelier! He thought this was great, mom found it very nerve racking!
Great Grandpa Magnus and Dawson.
Dawson was born on Great Grandpa's Birthday, hence why Dawson was given great grandpa's name as a middle name! Dawson and Grandpa are exactly 80 years apart.

Happy Easter, don't you mean Merry Christmas?

This post is dedicated to Mom and Dad Andrus, who just emailed to tell us they have arrived in Thailand and are enjoying +32 degree weather! Hope you know what you're missing. This morning I measured the snow on our patio table and it's at 7 1/2" and still the white stuff is falling.

Happy Easter!

Easter means so much more to me now than it ever has before

Because of Dawson

Only now do I truly realize how great a parents love is for their own child. They will sacrifice everything for them, provide everything they need, and all they ask is that they be loved in return.
If I can love my child this much, how much more must God, my Heavenly Father, love me. God did make the ultimate sacrifice by giving His Son Jesus over to death on a cross, so that our sins would be forgiven. I can't imagine how painful that would have been for Him to watch His son suffer like that. But because of this ultimate sacrifice we all can have forgiveness from sin, peace, and the promise of heaven. And what does God ask in return? Simply, relationship with Him.

I also know that whatever Dawson may do now or in the future, I will always love him and will always accept him. This is just like Jesus, who no matter how my relationship with him has been, no matter what I have done, or how long I have been away from him, he will always take me back.

My hope is that over this Easter weekend you too will be able to look beyond the chocolate bunnies and Easter egg hunts and remember the incredible sacrifice that was made for all of us.

Happy Easter! Love Dave, Karalee and Dawson

3 Cheers For Daddy!

This Saturday Dawson got to watch his daddy play hockey for the first time! Dave plays every winter in our church hockey league. Most of his games are really late at night, so Dawson is never able to go. But this weekend was the leagues year end tournament and they had several games during the day, so we were finally able to go and cheer Dave on! Dawson was mesmerized by the action on the ice and actually watched the whole game! And to top it all off he even got to hang out with all the guys in the dressing room between periods!
